LMS Princess Coronation class 'Duchess of Sutherland', 1938


Sir William Stanier's masterpiece, built in 1938 for hauling West Coast expresses between London Euston and Glasgow. Finally withdrawn in 1964, the locomotive returned to the mainline in 2001 after long years on static display. Operating up to the end of  2010, Duchess of Sutherland is now undergoing a major overhaul, before return once more to the main line.
